노리개란 목걸이나 귀걸이를 대신하여 조선시대에 가장 다양하게 발달한 여자 장신구이다. 궁중과 상류층으로부터 평민, 노년층과 어린아이에 이르기까지 널리 애용되었으며 계절, 용도, 목적에 따라 노리개의 재료, 크기, 형태가 다양했다. 노리개는 우리 한복의 악센트와 같은 역할로 색과 선, 그리고 재료의 미를 한층 돋보이게 해주며 그 아름다움을 통해 선조들의 미적 감각을 발견할 수 있게 하여준다. 단지 장식적인 수단으로 애용된 것 뿐 아니라 여인들의 일상을 담는 실용적인 용도로 바늘집, 침통, 주머니 등으로 쓰이기도 했다. 다양한 형태와 문양을 담아 착용함으로써 가정의 행복과 소원을 빌기도 하며 마음을 다스리는 옛 여인들의 지혜와 소망이 두루 담겨져 있다.
Norigae Pendant is one of traditional women's accessories in Korea which was later favored over necklaces, bracelets and rings in Joseon Dynasty and matured into distinct types. It enhances the beauty of hanbok, the traditional Korean costume, by providing a visual focal point in the look and by achieving harmony with the color and the line. 산호가지, 옥나비 한 쌍, 밀화 덩어리로 주체가 구성된 노리개로서 산호가지는 붉고 음양을 의미하는 홀이 가지에 있는 것이 특징이다. 밀화덩어리의 석류 형태는 씨앗이 많음으로 다산을 염원하는 상징적 의미가 있고 삼색 낙지발술이 달려있다.

일반적으로 동자는 한쌍으로 구성되는데 이 노리개의 주체는 동자 하나이다. 동자는 두개의 뿔을 가지고 있고 표정이 다소곳하여 편안하게 느껴진다. 주체는 파란이 입혀져있고 이봉술이 장식한다.

향갑 노리개香匣佩飾
Hyang-gap Norigae Pendant
은 니사로 만들어진 대형 향갑 노리개로 향갑의 하단부가 개폐식으로 되어있으며 그 안에 홍색의 향이 들어있고 다홍빛으로 인하여 투각된 문양과 섬세한 도안이 돋보이며 문양에 물총새털로 장식되어 화려함을 더해준다. 크기로 보아 궁중이나 상류층 계급에서 사용되었으리라 추측되며 병아리매듭으로 연결되어 봉술이 달려있다.
